The Villages is a master-planned community for adults 55 years or older. This community is about 20 miles south of Ocala and 45 miles northwest of Orlando. This is one of the quickest growing areas in the country. In 2008, the Census Bureau Report listed The Villages as the number one micropolitan areas. In 2012, Forbes Magazine rated The Villages as the “Fastest Growing Small Towns”. Part of the charm of The Villages stems from 39 beautifully landscaped golf courses, the bocce ball, and shuffleboard courts. These activities are provided to residents through the amenities fees they pay every month. The Villages neighborhoods do not pay an HOA, although there are two voluntary homeowners associations: The Villages Homeowners Association (VHA) and the Property Owners Association (POA). These associations help the residents with staying within the guidelines set out by their particular subdivision. The people who work for these HOA’s do so without monetary compensation.
