Rotunda, commonly called Rotunda West to separate the community from Rotunda Lakes, was created with streets and open spaces that formed a wagon wheel shape. This community was planned in a way so that there would be multiple golf courses, parks, schools, and subdivisions within the wagon wheel. When financial difficulties plagued the community planners, they sold Rotunda. The wagon wheel shaped streets were then developed with the subdivision, parks, and schools in the “spokes” of the wheel and a community center in the middle. The schools within Rotunda are operated by Charlotte County School District. The two schools located within Rotunda are LA Ainger Middle School and Vineland Elementary School; both schools received “A” ratings for their FCAT test scores. The Rotunda West Association is the HOA for this area and the fees are used to keep up the common areas in the center of the wagon wheel and canals.
