Hamilton County is located on the Florida-Georgia border and is separated from the rest of the State of Florida by the Suwannee River to the east and south and the Withlacoochee River to the west. The Alapaha River (known as the “River of Sand” because of how it disappears at certain times of the year) snakes throughout the middle of Hamilton County. The 519 square miles of land that lie within the boarder of Hamilton County are predominately rural. The city of Jasper is the county seat of Hamilton County. The Hamilton County School District has a total of 5 public schools: North Hamilton Elementary, Central Hamilton Elementary, South Hamilton Elementary, Glennwood School, and Hamilton County High School.
