Port Richey is a suburban city located in Pasco County Florida. It has always been considered a "Mecca" for fisherman and trappers. In 1883 Aaron M. Richey arrived in the area and purchased a small piece of river front property naming it "Port Richey".Aaron Richey also established a Post Office naming it the "Port Richey Post Office" and served as the first postmaster. More people began to settle and fish in Port Richey after hearing about the mild winters along the Gulf coast. In 1935 the population of Port Richey was about 249 people, and although the area maintains a small town feel as of 2004 the population in Port Richey had grown to 3077.
