Columbia County is located on the Florida-Georgia border. The county is 804 square miles and has an estimated population of 67,000. The county seat is Lake City, which is the intersection of Interstate 74 and Interstate 10. Other major roads that cross through Columbia County are US Highway 27, US Highway 41, US Highway 90, US Highway 441, and truck detour US Highway 90. Columbia County is located on the rich, dark, fertile lands of northern Florida. Agriculture and transportation of the regions crops are two major industries in Columbia County. There are only two municipalities that are incorporated within this county: the town of Fort White and the city of Lake City. The five municipalities that are not incorporated are Five Points, Watertown, Lulu, Newco, and Columbia City. Osceola National Forest is partially housed in Columbia County.
