About Bartow
Originally founded in 1851 as Fort Blount, Bartow was renamed after the first brigade commander to fall during the American Civil War; Francis S. Bartow. This city is known for its “southern charm” and has a nickname as the “City of Oaks and Azaleas”. Bartow plans events that are well attended by people from all over the state, such as the Cricket Club Halloween Parade. Aside from the beauty of the area, Bartow is driven by the phosphate mining of Clear Spring Land Company. The other big employers to the area are both county and city governments.
