About Durham County
Durham, North Carolina was founded in 1881 and was carved out of parts of Orange and Wake Counties.
Geography location: North is Person County; Wake County is to the South; Orange County is to the West; Wake County is to the Southeast; and Granville County is to the Northeast. Durham County is 299 square miles and is a single-city county. The city of Durham being the only incorporated city.
