About Pasco County

Pasco County is located North of Pinellas and Hillsborough County and South of Hernando County. The Gulf of Mexico borders its West side and the Cotee River runs through downtown New Port Richey which is host of the annual boat parade and Chasco Festival. The county seat of Pasco is Dade City. In the 1920’s, Florida experienced a land boom and New Port Richey was silver screen star, Thomas Meighan’s home for the winter season. At that time, as a result of Meighan’s influence, New Port Richey became a hot spot for other Hollywood figures. Since 1960 Pasco County has experienced quite a bit of growth in population, beginning near Florida’s Gulf coast and now expanding up North of Tampa. Pasco County, Florida had a population of a little more than 450,000 in the year 2006. Newly developed areas such as Trinity, bring more Tampa Bay residents who work in Tampa and St. Petersburg. More growth is expected upon the completion of the new community hospital in Trinity on SR 54. With easy access via the Suncoast Parkway and other corridors, commuters like the appeal of Pasco’s lower home prices compared with Hillsborough and Pinellas.
